	The Bulletin Dozen is a monthly theme-based booklist available as an online-only Bulletin feature. Since we're awfully fond of bakers here at the Bulletin, we thought we'd adopt their philosophy of generosity and throw in an extra one or two when we have them to offer--so don't expect an even dozen. Reading Beyond Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield – Twins in Children’s and Young Adult Fiction  --selected by April Spisak, Reviewer Mary Kate and Ashley, Jess and Liz, the Bobbsey Twins, Maya and Miguel…children’s and young adult series books are dense with twins.  But are there dyads to be found outside of the realm of series?

• Auseon, Andrew.  Funny Little Monkey.  Harcourt, 2005. Gr. 7-10
  Arty, an abnormally short fourteen-year-old boy, enlists a group of school outcasts to take revenge against his abusive (much taller) fraternal twin brother. (BCCB 7/05)
  
  
• Baccalario, Pierdomenico.  The Door to Time.  Scholastic, 2006.  Gr. 4-6
  After moving to an old mansion, twins Jason and Julia discover that their new home, with its twisting tunnels and strange artifacts, may lead them to untold adventures - if they can learn to work together. (BCCB 2/06)

  Thirteen-year-old fraternal twins Dallas and Florida have grown up in an orphanage, but their lives change forever when an eccentric older couple invites them to live with them in Ruby Holler. (BCCB 7/02)

  At the end of the futuristic Flux (BCCB 7/04), Nellie discovered that she had a twin sister.  In this sequel, the complex and antagonistic relationship between the sisters is explored in depth.  (BCCB 5/05)

  Twins Philippa and John discover they are descended from a long line of djinn, and despite their mother’s misgivings, they are thrilled to learn more about their extraordinary powers. (BCCB 1/05)

  Eighth-graders Ryan and Taylor are twins, but they are certain they have nothing more in common, until they both find themselves in over their heads with the time traveling disks they’ve discovered. (BCCB 10/03)
  
  
• Mercer, Sienna.  My Sister the Vampire: Switched.  Harper Trophy, 2007. Gr. 4-6
  Okay, here is one series book, the brand new and clever first volume about identical twins Olivia and Ivy, who were separated as infants and discover, upon being reunited that (genetics aside) there is a major difference between them: Ivy is a vampire and Olivia most certainly is not. • Paterson, Katherine.  Jacob Have I Loved.  T.Y. Crowell, 1980. Gr. 6-9
  A classic twin rivalry novel, Louise feels as though she has lived under the shadow of her perfect twin her whole life, until she finds a way to carve out her own identity and future. (BCCB 11/80)
  
  
• Pohl, Peter and Kinna Gieth.  I Miss You, I Miss You!  R&S/Farrar, 1999. Gr. 7-10
  Thirteen-year-old Tina and Cilia are identical twins and extremely close, in spite of their personality differences.  After Cilia is suddenly killed, what is left of Tina? (BCCB 3/99)

  Twins Eleda, who can only tell the truth, and Adele, who cannot reveal other’s secrets, have always been so different, they can scarcely imagine growing closer.  However, maturity, shared obstacles, and a common friend all help smooth the way. (BCCB 9/05)
  
  
• Wilson, Jacqueline.  Double Act.  Delacorte, 1998.  Gr. 4-7
  Not only are ten-year-old twins Ruby and Garnet struggling to deal with the idea of their father dating again, but they must also face the fact that being identical twins shouldn’t mean being interchangeably similar.  (BCCB 2/98)
